Does the New Beginning Only Happen in the New Year?

This post is a participation of IFB’s weekly project -you can check out the project details here-, and in this project we are free to express our view of our own New Year resolutions (or so I perceive it).
Honestly, the way I see it, we could have made the changes and resolutions at ANY time of the year. Don’t having New Year around just make you push back that “resolution” so it would fit with the changing year? Yeah I thought so, I also unconsciously (and joyfully) do it all the time! Only lately I realized (thanks to some argument from a friend) that I’ve been doing it wrong. I could have changed any time. Those resolutions should be done at any given time of the year, not just at the beginning.
That being said, I have to admit that I DO have a list of resolutions on my own. I guess I understand why people, such as myself, like to push back resolution dates to a certain event. We simply need that trigger. We need the right moment to be able to act accordingly to our plans. Ahh, the trigger, I’m just hoping the “fresh new start” excitement last the whole year though…
So anyway, this list is not specifically made for the New Year, but the timing is pretty close, so yeaaaaaaaaah, I push back the starting date a little just for the sake of new year’s festivity.
So here’s the ultimate list:
1. Fully support myself financially
2. Improve drawing skill to the point where my work would satisfy myself
3. Gain traffic for blog
4. Do projects related to art/design/anything in the creative field
5. Spread my work for more eyes to see
6. Take more (and better) photos for blog
7. Post on a regular basis, a.k.a make editorial calendar and ACTUALLY sticking to it
Number one, two, and three would be the ultimate goals. They’ll be on top of my priority list for 2013. That’s it! Pray for me so that I’ll be able to actually stick to what I’ve written above. I am willing to work my a** off to fulfill those goals, as I am a deep believer of “What goes around comes around”. And so should you, by the way.
Cheers!

Hi dear, thank you!
I wish you a terrific and extremely happy New Year!
xoxo
at least the new year works as a reminder of getting a resolutions and goals list.. it’s like the diet thing.. “I’ll start on monday” ha.. I guess we just wanna enjoy the last days of lazyness… I usually have the same resolutions every year, and rarely fulfill them :S…. this year it’s all about to change ’cause I’m moving and changing my life drastically… all your resolutions fit in my list too btw.. ha… hope we accomplish most of them! happy new year!
Haha I can TOTALLY relate to that diet thing! Yeah I think we all should stick to our goals once we made them and focus on them, that way there’s no excuse to not achieving them and end up repeating the same goals year after year
Happy New Year and have a great year ahead dear!

Nothing wrong with always having resolutions! As someone else said, I guess New Years gives you the push in the right direction but it’s true, we should make changes whenever we feel compelled

I think New Year makes us feel like we have a chance of a brand new start, and as it’s said, pushes us in the right direction. So Happy New Year to you! Have an amazing year ahead dear!

You are so talented! I discovered your blog through The Creative Bent. Love all your illustrations, especially this one and the one based on a pic from Garance Dore’s blog. When I clicked through to GD’s blog to see the original pic, I couldn’t believe my eyes! I’m now following you on bloglovin’. I’ve always loved GD’s illustrations btw, and I think you’re well on your way to become a famous illustrator like her!
Good luck!
